Congratulations everyone who took the Summer 2010 Promotion Test!

Kids from as young as 4yrs old up to seasoned adults – all of whom trained hard for the last 3 months or much more, had the opportunity to test their skills for promotion on Sunday, June 20 at the KKNY Midtown Dojo.

Results are posted at the Dojos now (and below) and new belts will be awarded in classes the next few days.  Thanks KKNY students for doing such a brilliant job!  OSU!!

KKNY@Japan Day in Central Park

Thanks everyone for joining KKNY-Kyokushin Karate Kids on Japan Day @ Central Park, NYC last weekend, June 6.  We had a lot of fun walking in the parade and seeing old friends, students and fans of Kyokushin!  Especially thanks to our wonderful KKNY parents for your support!

This is the 4th Japan Day festival in NYC and the 4th time Kyokushin Karate has been invited to take part in the event.  We are honored to support Japan Day which helps recognize and celebrate the strong bond between the United States and Japan ~ OSU!

2010 Goodwill Tournament

Congratulations all competitors at the 2010 Goodwill Tournament Sunday, May 16, 2010! 

The Goodwill Tournament is an inside-dojo competitive challenge for ALL students to gain tournament experience, foster camaraderie and give back to the community.  KKNY, KKNY-NJ and Manhattan Beach, CA students attended and supported this event for charity.  We generated over $500 for the Robin Hood Foundation here in NYC, which supports local organizations dedicated to eradicating poverty. 

Thanks to all the Brown and Black belts who volunteered to make this event run smoothly and effortlessly, and to all the families and friends of KKNY students for their contributions and support of everyone’s hard work. 

Another local Goodwill Tournament is planned for the Fall, but before that, the 2010 All American Open will be staged by the IKO Kyokushinkaikan and KKNY here in NYC, on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 at the Hunter College Sportsplex.  Contact nyc@ikohonbu.com for sponsor packages and competitor applications.

IKO Event Results

In August, 2009, IKO Honbu recently concluded the International Friendship events in Chiba, Japan with over 1500 competitors in attendance.  Nearly 20,000 fans came to the arena to support over the three-day event and over 100,000 people joined in the LIVE broadcast via Ustream.tv! 
The International Friendship events showcased the best Men, Women, Juniors and Seniors in the Kyokushinkaikan to date and brought together our outstanding membership from all over world.  It was a unique and spirited experience for all~OSU!
